Default Chest Activation

Whenever i do chest work, my triceps take a bigger a beating. I really work on contracting the chest, any tips or advice or getting better chest activation. All my work is done with the barbell and dumbell.

How much are you Benching 77?

The chest activation may well be an unnecessary concern for you just yet.

My BB bench 1rm is 170ish...i usually bench between 135-155 for reps. 45-55s for DBs.

Yeah I'd say it shouldn't really be your concern just yet. Once you're Benching at least 220-260 you'll be bigger and importantly for you at that point you will actually have more mass to voluntarily contract.

I really wouldn't worry about it just yet, concentrate on getting stronger. Honestly the rest will fall into place.

My only advice is to not worry about it. You don't need to feel a muscle work for it to be activated and working. For example, I never feel quads on squats...only hamstrings, and hamstring DOMS. Despite this my quads are immense.

Getting strong in the basic "Big Boy" lifts should be the first phase for any bodybuilder. This leads to increased mass...everywhere.

Also try to focus hard on flexing your pecs and check hand placement. Overall, nothing to worry about yet.
