Nothing too crazy here, but bodypart splits were a HUGE mistake. Now looking back, all it ever gave me was DOMS. It didn't make me stronger, and it didn't make me bigger. I'd say my progress has increased at least tenfold in both strength AND muscle mass since switching to 4 days lifting a week and either an upper/lower or push/pull. Using these schedules I've been able to get bigger, stronger, AND faster all at the same time, in ways i never thought possible before.

hmm where to begin...when I was younger...dropset benchin' everyday, benching in a smith machine, squatting in a smith machine, dropset squats (from 315-135...never again, had nerve twitching for three days) Dropset deadlifts, Van Pushes for over 50yds for time, mixing Juggernaut PreWorkout with a little Concret (heard my heart in my ears and saw dead people), GVT, Superpump at 10 at night at World Gym (needless to say my wife was pretty ticked when I got home)...pretty sure I've done more...LOL

The 5 and 6 day bodypart split had to be the dumbest workout I've done (extra points for skipping leg day most of the time). Compound my stupidity with the fact that I spent (wasted) hundreds per month on supplements. I should get some kind of Dumb-Ass Award.

it seems like every lifter goes through everything you said early on if their lifting.

it's those that continue to lift for years that learn how dumb they were and change their lifting habits/supplement use.

it's those that stop and start lifting again every few years that repeat that mistake over and over.

I did squat to daily 1, 2 or 3RM, 6-7 days a week. It would have worked out good if it were not for me also working 9-12h every day and being stressed out at work. Burned out after three and a half week

I also did 1 pull and 1 push after the squat, by the same system or slightly high reps.

I did have fun though. and i broke PR's the first 2 weeks, but it was painfull haha!

I do like stupidity once in a while, me and btb had a comp a while back to be the first to get 20 reps with 405 on the deadlift, i dont think any off us did it though, atleast i did not.

The worst training idea I had was when I took my 7-day a week session and decided to split it and make it a body part style workout but maintain the same volume and do each bodypart only once every 10 days or so...it resulted in over 360 squats in the forst session and not being able to walk forwards down a stairs for 10 days, after which things got oh so slowly better...NEVER again! And, I only managed to get one bodypart done because I was toast for too many days afterwards
