Default How many of you supplement with vitamins?

I've always taken a multi and an additional B complex.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you also supplement with extra vitamins?

IMO, multi-vitamins are trash and the vast majority of them cannot be fully processed/absorbed by the body.

I just eat very, very well and also eat bee pollen and Royal Jelly, which are more than superior substitutes and absorbed quickly.

I do not even need omega's as I eat wild Salmon everyday.

The only vitamin I need daily (only in the winter actually) is vitamin D.

My blood is checked monthly, due to my conditions and Birdshot, and all nutrients/vitamins are at perfect levels all the time.

Ah yes, Jim, I remember you mentioning you supplemented with Bee pollen.

You're right about the multi-vitamins; the only ones I take are whole food vitamin capsules, because as you say, there's a great deal of rubbish on the market as far as synthetic multis, which are basically worthless.

I take a Multi( One a Day), as well as D @15,000 iu daily , C @ 3 mg daily, B6 @ 200mg Daily.
I also occasionally take an Iron tab 50mg or B12 ( not sure of dosage - it is a chewable) at the advice of my MD...... because I donate blood more than 4 times a year .

I usually take these, only, during the week of my donation.

I am not up to date on all of the absorption rates and such but I know that I feel better when I take them and worse when I do not. So, I take 'Em

I take them...usually in a rotation or tapering fashion

my theory is that it's not so much that they aren't absorbed, but that you get what you need in short order. The idea that you need every vitamin, every day, is convenient for the sales team, but not the body.

Once upon a time, we only ate certain vitamins in season when the fruits and vegetables were plentiful. Not that year round access is bad, but the human race survived millenia without vitamin pills

I agree with Jim that a good diet covers 99% of your bases, but like SCS, I have definitely noticed better sleep, healing, etc. when I am taking something that I need.

I don't take much of anything anymore. Eat a well rounded diet and your good to go. If for some odd reason you are low on a certain Vit. Just add that one. No need to take extra crap you'll just piss out.

The ones I get, as I say, are whole food based.
They grow this sort of super vegetable that the company has created, and then in powder form that's what goes into the capsules.

I see it as an insurance policy.
Of course, a diet plentiful in micronutrients is required, but given the vast array of vitamins and minerals that exist getting all of them from fruits and vegetables alone would be a task; not to mention the quality of the soil is not as it was, and so macronutrients are a fair bit lower than they were in say the 1950s.

They're cheap enough so I may as well.
I get, like, half a Years supply for around 30.

The vast majority of vitamin supplements are definetly a con though, in my opinion.
As has been said, much of the nutrients are in their synthetic form, and just aren't utilised properly by the body (if at all).
