Default Monkey bars

I took my son to the playground last weekend and we went on the monkey bars. I remember playing on those things in primary school probably daily. Fast forward +20 years and those things are tough!!! Holy smokes! You feel so many muscles stretching and trying to work. It got me thinking, how good are monkey bars as a bodyweight workout?
I know there is a Monkey Bars Gym franchise and some others that use monkey bars. Not sure exactly what you do there.

Just a random thought.

Maybe it could be used to find weak points in your upper body? I.e. shoulders, grip, etc.

A lot of crossfit gyms are equipped with monkey bars. They are pretty versatile for bodyweight work, but they also just use them like god intended.

When I was young I was always overweight and I could never even get from one bar to another. The first time I ever actually got across monkey bars was in basic training. The bars were thick and wet, and they weren't secured so they spun in your hands, but damnit, I made it across.

It's amazing what you can do when an Army Drill Sergeant is yelling at you.

Or even just "street workout". They actually have competitions for this stuff, even though it's mostly just pull up variations. It's always impressive and most of them have fantastic physiques, but I bet none of them can deadlift 2x bodyweight.
