Default Have you ever been too pooped to pump?

Not sure what happened but the trip to the gym was a total waste of time..... fatigue set in before I ever got there - completely un motivated and tired.

Does anyone else experience this? How do you deal with it?

Just FYI - had ample food today and slept well last night.... not sure what the heck happened.

Honestly, I just go in and do it. I train hung-over, un-motivated, sick, or highly motivated. Sometimes I just say screw it and take an extra day off. Some days I just go in and do what I can on that given day.. Or might hold myself back, cut back on sets or cut back on accessory lifts. Just all a part of training I guess.

SC...

I've come to realize the difference between being weak and being fatigued.

There are days when I'm just weak. I'll stay and gut it out...maintaining focus on form. Then there are days when I am fatigued. I'll just walk away not wanting to risk a form breakdown.

If it happens once in a while I don't mind. But if it happens often I need to take a look at my programming

No.

But I'm probably barely an "intermediate" lifter, for one thing. And for another, I have had the odd session (rarely, though) where I couldn't do what I "should've" been able to. Like, not even getting the top weights at all, or not as many sets as laid out, say.

In those rare cases, it's been down to programming or various psychological stressors, every time. More often programming - either an "established" program that doesn't work well for me and my lifestyle at the time, or poor decisions wrt my own programming (more than once, heh).

So yeah, I would tentatively suggest looking at either one or both of those possibilities, especially given that food and sleep are apparently fine, in this context.

Just my 2c, and I would defer to someone with more knowledge and experience in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the replys ...... I have come to the conclusion that I am getting older and some days I just need more rest. I will hit it hard and heavey today - hopefully with a renewed spirit.

It happens several times per month for me. If I am at the gym I lift and cut back on work but not intensity.

I usually force me self to lift, and once I do, it usually ends up being a very good workout, unless it is close to my monthly extra day off, then I take it off early.
