Default Impingement and pinkie numbness

Have left pinkie numbness and it's getting worse. Pretty sure I have an impingement.

The doctor wanted me to wait 4 weeks. I can't see any reason why. Anyone shed insight on this injury, and why I should wait?

Could easily be carpal tunnel. You might try getting a wrist brace and wearing it, particularly at night. Walmart or almost any pharmacy will carry them.
It bought Mike years before he finally was forced into having wrist surgery to correct it.

BTB - IMHO, this has more to do with the weight loss, padding in your hands, and the heavy DB bench pressing.
Last year when I was prepping for a meet I was alternating bench and DB bench days. I noticed that my pinkie was numbing on my right hand.

Food for thought.

It could be any number of causes. Could be a simple case of your traps or neck being very tight so try stretching them out and maybe try getting a physio session on the neck to work out kinks. Could be cubital tunnel syndrome so the wrist brace idea may be one to look at to keep your arm straight when sleeping. I would look into those before assuming shoulder impingement.

If it is just the pinky, and the part of the palm leading out to the pinky, this is commonly caused by ulnar nerve compression - cubital tunnel syndrome, similar to carpal tunnel, but different nerve. Happens to a fair number of cyclists from pressure on the wrists on long rides. If this is it, then finding out what is irritating it should be a priority, because continued injury has the potential to cause some permanent nerve problems. I don't know if 4 weeks is long enough for any permanent problems, but I don't see the reason to wait.

If there are any symptoms further up - like pain or tingling in the forearm, upper arm- then it is more likely an irritated nerve in the neck area.

I've been experiencing numbness/tingling in my left thumb and index finger. Saw a neuro doc, had MRI, and it revealed I had nerve impingement/irritation from a bulging disk in my neck (C5-C6). Tried my on Lyrica for a while with no relief. Said at this point it would then be simply a matter of time before the swelling/buldge went down or optional disk surgery...

I would suggest an MRI. I have subacromial impingement in my right shoulder and it does sometimes have an effect on my training. Not only can it create some numbness, but also some weakness and instability in the shoulder joint. I was advised to avoid overhead lifts, so I keep my overhead pressing to one time a week and use other exercises for my shoulders.

Cortisone injections can be helpful (I've had a few), as can physical therapy, but I seriously would suggest an MRI if you haven't had one yet.
