Most trainers spend $500 for a weekend course an think there trainers.....One time i got into a heated debate for 30 minutes till the trainer realized how big of a rere i made him look ......you will always have that here

I don't listen to people who are certified, because they generally know much less than I do.

Generalizations are just that generalizations. The certification, I have one, is just a piece a paper, just like any degree. Pick an occupation and within 5 minutes I can point out to you multiple sorry excuses for that degree award. Point is, don't lump all trainers into the "Sucks" category as there are some of us who really work at doing things right and well.

That said, until there is a single standard that is accepted at least nation wide if not world wide, you will continue to see more extremes than you will continuity. The only reason I have a certification is the phrase "certified trainer," lends credibility to the niche I serve. I am more of a health and fitness coach than a "trainer." Truth is any good trainer is more coach than "trainer."

Good points and I'm glad there are a few out there like you..

I workout at two different gyms and one of them as a few trainers there and I have never seen them train any one with Free weights.. Not even DB's.. Nor have I seen the trainers even workout besides run on the treadmill or use a machine for a few reps.

I've looked into getting a cert. as well for a job where I work.

I go to a gym where fees is very cheap so you might expect how the trainer will be, Over there the way trainer explain others on how to do exercise it cracks me up all the time. But i just mind my own business and they think they know better than anyone.
