Screw that. I'm shoulder deep in the same sort of sickness right now and I'm squatting heavy later today.

No excuses, get to it.

It is better to rest up...fever tends to weaken your energy systems.

I agree with soldier, go lift if that is what you want to do. Doing something you love tends to help recovery alot.

Don't get me wrong, if your sick and you think you're going to keel over if you try to train then just take it easy, but if you're better or while you're still sick you feel up for it, go get it done. Unfortunately I'm feeling much worse now than I was earlier. My joints are aching and my head is throbbing, so I'm going to have to push my session to tomorrow.

Another vote for resting.
Forcing a workout when you're [really] sick can make you even sicker, lengthen the time of sickness, or may even get you injured. A couple of extra rest days are better than being forced to rest longer because you did something silly. The iron will wait for you.

You have to go by how you feel, if you feel drained/depleted of energy, it may be best to wait a day or two longer, if you feel great then you should be okay to go, though I'd still go light or at least test the waters at the first return session.

It all depends how intense the sickness was and how much it affected you physically.

That's what caffeine is for!

I didn't mean depleted of energy in the sense of tired, I meant it as having been emptied out by the sickness...as in closer to exhaustion than just plain tiredness caffeine is always good, heck it helps me get a great night's sleep.

I'm caffeine sensitive, from years of never having it as a child. My mom gets ill if she has it. My in-laws, on the other hand, are all obsessed with coffee and can drink the stuff right before bed with no problem.

It's good that I'm sensitive to it. I can use it during workouts and it really helps with energy, focus, motivations, pretty much everything.
