Great rules on how to be happy. I am a homeowner and love it though so that one really does not apply to me. But I love to be thrifty, in fact was just at good will this weekend and got some capris for me for under $6 and they were name brand ones and new. And I like to do good for others as well. You can be happy if you follow some of these rules. And I do count my blessings, I am very blessed, that is for sure.

Acts of kindness make me feel better, so thus I do feel happier. A few weeks ago I bought the person behind me in McDonalds their order, it felt great to do so

Well... there are many, many people out there suffering inescapable fates that you or I won't ever have to deal with directly (chances are), and yet, a surprising(?) number of them fight their way through it anyway, making the absolute best they can of all that they have.

Which, I think, is the "key to happiness" if there has to be one: making the best of your life.

So the question might instead be, "What is it that's making you ask, 'Why bother?'"

Not trying to be invasive here. No need to answer of course. Just, maybe, something to contemplate.

Yes everyone should make the best that they have in life. That is all that you can do and once you realize that, then you can find happiness.

I think "Stop caring/worrying what everyone else thinks, focusing more on just being the best you that you can be in your own eyes" should be on the list as well.

I also agree that being helpful/giving to others (without need for anything in return) is huge on that list.

MaryEllen you are so right. That is a good one to add to the list. If you focus your attention on what you want, then your life is so much better.
