Heartburn

Does drinking orange juice give you heartburn? I drank some on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and then woke up with heartburn bad in the middle of the night. I did not have any the past few days and so far no heartburn. What do you think?

Foods can affect different people in different ways, there's no reason that any food could not cause heartburn.

Orange juice is acidic. It might also have fillers in it, depending on the brand.

Yes it could give you heartburn. I know that when I eat lettuce I often get heartburn later. Talk to your doc and maybe he or she can recommend something that you can take to off set the effects of foods.

The best thing is just to avoid it, if it's a problem and not an essential food source.

One time I did ask the doc about heartburn because I got it a lot in the course of a month a few years ago. Anyway he put me on Prilosec for a course of 3 months and that really helped me out a lot. It is over the counter as well.

Any time of acidic fruit gives me a little acid reflux. Grapefruit and oranges always do it. Just stop drinking orange juice and eat and orange. It will have less citric acid because it isn't concentrated like juice and you;ll get the benefit of less sugar and more fiber.
