Charley Horse

Last night I woke up with a Charley horse, have not had one forever. What is the best way to get rid of it in a fast manner? And what causes them in the first place?

I just straighten my leg out and it goes away after a few excruciating seconds.

If American Dad has taught me anything, its that bananas (potasium) helps cure them. Probably a general lack of proper nutrients cause them, but thats a guess.

I just lie there and try not to move the limb for 15 minutes. There's a good chance if you don't give it time you'll get another one very quickly.

i believed it was lack of water more so than lack of nutrients. the repeat ones you get in your calf...just try not expressing pain with those. getting them in your abs is even worse

You may want to try adding just a pinch of raw salt to your water. It might help with the cramps.:)Loss of minerals perhaps.

I have heard that bananas are great for you for when you get charley horses. I hate getting them, knock on wood I have not had one for a long time. Here is to hoping that I go that much longer without getting one.

I stand up and just stand for a minute or two. Then I will massage it out. It seems to help some.

Is that a cramp or a calf cramp? Meds can cause cramps, so can many other health issues, or it could be a basic cramp.

You have to work out what the cause was before you can even begin to consider what the necessary action for it should be.

I do not get them very often but I usually walk it off. Then I lay as still as I can for a while so another one does not creep up on me.
