Meet the Flea Party

Too funny.

Don't even get me started.

I love my country. I have served my country. We enjoy freedoms we sometimes take for granted, that others do not have. And, this is such a case.

In other countries, this group can be shot and hung. Here we enjoy Freedom of speech (thou if you think about it, this freedom is restricted to many conditions in living life), which allows this sort of speech.

Though we are not perfect, I wouldn't live any where else in the world.

I love freedom, and I love freedom of speech. But these people aren't saying anything at all! They don't even agree with eachother. They complain about the system not working, but then when polled it turns out most of them didn't vote!

I'm looking forward to fighting for my country and protecting my children's freedoms, but I also know how I personally feel. I'm glad we live in a country where these people CAN protest, but that doesn't mean I don't think we'd be better off if a bomb "accidentally" fell on that park they're living in.

Most of these people want a socialist revolution. They won't SAY that, and most of them don't even know that that's what they're asking for, but it is. Think about all the socialist revolutions of the last 100 or so years. Yeah, how IS the Soviet Union doing these days? Or Cuba? Yeah, they're pretty happy with the results of their decision. I'd ask the North Koreans how they're doing, but they're too weak from famine to speak.

Some of them are camping out on my university campus now. Finally got some decent answers out of one of them. They seem to believe that a Marxist Utopia is possible and a good idea, that personal greed is always bad, and that I should keep working so they can leach off my paycheck.

I don't mean to sound disrespectful, because that's not my intention, but I spent a lot of time with the pot-smoking, go green, give peace a chance, indy rock crowd while in college. I was actually one of them, as was my girlfriend at the time.

I can only comment on myself...I stood for a lot of things during those years but they weren't intelligently thought out. A lot of my opinions were based on emotions, and quite frankly more than a few were based on the dysfunctional upbringing I had as a child. I had a limited world view, was very cynical, thought all rich people were evil, thought the man was keeping me down, and all that.

I spent a lot of time feeling sorry for myself, and enabling the futility of others. It's can't help it. You're the product of your environment. You're the victim... Life is sh*t, people are sh*t, big business is sh*t, politicians are sh*t...let's all get together, hug a whale and shake hands with the Middle East. No more oil, save the squirrels, pass the bong and the electric guitar, dude! Tip your glass to Dionysus.

I had the t-shirts, the piercings, the stone and hemp necklace, and everything else that was part of the package. I wanted to rock alternative, laugh at the mainstream, and have someone else cut me some slack. I supported the ACLU, Green Peace, Amnesty International and anything else that made my jobless, slacking, lazy-ass lifestyle of self pity seem important.

Then one day I woke up, realized that hard work can pay off, and that I wanted all the things I used to hate.

Now I am not implying that my story is the same as every member of the Flea Party. I'm not that ignorant, nor do I really care. All I am saying is that when I was in with that crowd, blowing bongs and singing songs was more important to me than actually thinking through concepts.
