Michigan to Track Kids' BMI
Michigan to Track Kids' BMI

In an attempt to combat Michigan's childhood obesity epidemic, Gov. Rick Snyder announced Wednesday that the state would begin tracking kids' body mass index through the Michigan Care Improvement Registry. Although the policy would be one of the most extensive government anti-childhood obesity efforts, pediatricians were divided over whether it would have the desired impact.

Last time I checked, my kids didn't control most of what they ate. I did. Not sure I get the point of this (above and beyond using BMI, which is crap).

I am not a fan of most sentences that involve the following 2 words:

1) Government
2) Track

Outside of the Government stepping in to try to get a handle of this obesity issue, even though its the people's choice; they seem to go about it all wrong. There's nothing wrong with educating the people, unless you're providing the wrong information...

Not that this would be the first time.

Tracking the BMI though, doesn't mean they'll do anything, probably just save the gathered data for a later study.
