Half the bad competition lifts I see on Youtube look fine to me. I never know what they're seeing live, or what they "thought" they saw.

Personally, unless it's a blatant foul...like dropping the weight after deadlifting, I'm a thumbs up type of guy. When it comes to rules, some judges look for ways to throw you out, and some look for blatant rules violations. I prefer to stick with blatant violations.
