I went to the doctor yesterday and he informed me that I have a grade 3 separation which means that the clavicle has shifted. No surgery is needed but it is going to take some time. It can take up to 6 weeks to be back to 100 percent but in 3-4 weeks I should be able to begin serious lifting.

He also said there is not much I can do to further injure it, so I will start squatting once the pain is gone. Another week or so I will give it a try.

That's great news...the part about not being able to make it worse.

I like to hear that, but he also said that it will probably take close to two weeks before I can actually do anything just because of the extreme pain. But I will just do what I can, and I expect to be squatting fairly soon.

Thanks man, I agree, it is already starting to feel better. I think I will listen to the doctor in terms of playing rugby because direct trauma is about the only thing that can make it worse and I will listen to myself in the lifting aspect and speed things up a little bit.
