Default Ever get?

Ever get one of these guys who wants training and diet advice, but is secretly holding back something because the information he is presenting doesn't make sense.

It goes like this...

Bill: I went on a bulk of 2500 calories per day and gained 22 pounds in 3 weeks!

BTB: That's not normal. You must be eating more than that. How many cheat days did you have and are you drinking soda or other high calorie drinks?

Bill: No! I didn't cheat ever! I don't drink soda ever!

BTB: Were you on a cutting diet starving yourself prior to this bulk?

Bill: No way! I would never do that!

BTB: Did you swallow a large hammer?

Or thinks I was born yesterday.

I've seen bodybuilders bounce back 15-20 pounds in a week after a contest. They ate like horses though.

^ Thats counter productive for a serous natural bodybuilder.

Sounds to me like he was working up to premoting some kind of mass gaining supplement.

Yeah I get things like this from people who don't know better... It makes for awkward conversation, where I hold my tongue to not embarrass/piss off the person talking to me. It happens a lot with co-workers and friends who don't know anything about nutrition and supplementation, but then start taking shakes, working out and what not. They typically try to have an informative talk with me about things they've obviously read in Muscle magazine or something like that. Dogma-riddled misinformation...

Exactly. People have no earthly idea how much they eat. They guess, but always underestimate and don't include those little extras they add to everything. Hell, if people knew just how much was in the sauces they eat they'd freak.

I know from experience that when I eat only homemade, fresh food I almost always eat right around maintenance without even traying. All it takes is one meal out in a day and it's a struggle to not go over unless I'm training hard. Compare that to people who eat out everyday, and eat only processed crap at home.

If I want to cut then I ALWAYS have to log my intake, or I either eat too much or starve myself.
