Green Lantern

Go to see it yesterday in 2-D. It was OK. Decent, but not great. Not as good as either Thor or X-Men First Class.

The pacing of the story was a bit off for me and I just get sick of this tired formula of the hero having to have a love interest. I doubt that an intergalactic cop needs a girl friend to remind him that he needs to save the earth (or any other planet).

I'm glad I have that below X-Men on my to see list.

I didn't like Green Lantern very much. The script and story never pulled me in, and sometimes I felt like I was watching someone put together pieces instead of telling a a story.

Exactly.

Interestingly, it has a very similar story arc to Thor.

Backstory.
Hero granted powers.
Hero not ready/worthy of using them.
Hero must overcome character flaws to save the day.
Hero does just that and saves the day.

Part of it is Ryan Reynolds. I know he is a decent actor, but I have seen in him very few movies where he can make me CARE about his character.

Now, the dude playing Sinestro, HE was interesting. He had me hanging on his every word for what he would say or do next.

I wanted to see it kinda too, but me & gf had a night in instead watching kings speech which is really good. I highly recommend it.
