If you have put in your time, and paid your dues and decide youíd like to venture to the darkside, you still have one more question to ask yourself.

Why?

If itís because you compete, thatís fine. At least thatís something. Bodybuilder, powerlifter, highland games, whatever. If you are competing at a strength sport then at least you have a reason is legitimate. Your competition will be taking something. Youíre putting in your time and money to compete, so why not at least try to be competitive?

If you have to turn to testosterone because you have legit hormone issues, like low test, then by all means do what you have to do.

But if itís to be the ďbig guy at the gymĒ? Get a god damn therapist.

I know assholes who take massive cycles to just go to bodybuilding shows and walk around so they can say they were the biggest guy in a certain square foot area, or in attendance.

You donít need steroids man, you need a massive amounts of psychological help.

Any "advanced" strength athlete should be able to clean and press their bodyweight for reps, pretty easily. If you can't, you're either too weak to call yourself advanced, or too fat for your own good.

You should be able to do 20 bodyweight chins. You should be able to front squat 80% of your back squat.

Strong legs mean strong hips, strong
back, strong midsection, strong heart
and strong lungs.

Strong legs also mean you're doing
the right things when you train:

1. You're doing stand on your feet
training.

2. You're doing squats.

3. You're working hard.

4. You're going heavy.

5. You're being serious.

I love that quote.

I have been known to tell folks that if they can't destroy themselves in the gym in 45 to 60 minutes, they have no business training longer.

If you don't want to leave the gym after an hour, something might be broken.

"I also agree with you about the whole paralysis by analysis thing. Yes, you have to be smart in your training, and yes, you have to think it through and plan it -- but you also have to chalk your hands, grab the bar and lift it. That's where so many people go wrong." -Brooks Kubik (again)
