I have lots of people come to me in the gym asking me to measure their bodyfat. I always refuse and tell them it doesn't matter. Nobody actually cares about BF%, they care about having a smaller belly or bum, or having visible abs.

At one gym, the boss told me to use the impedance scales to get new members' bodyfat. I told him I would just use a vague eyeballing guess, as it'd be just as accurate and useful; the range of error is larger than the likely change over a couple of months. I don't think he was listening, though.

I was talking with a competitor this week. This person now competes in fitness modeling. He worked for months and months to get his abs down after years away from the "shredded zone, and lost them in a week due to "normal eating".

The problem with having the goal of abs is that it's not a maintainable goal for most (average Joe and Jane), meaning is can't be sustained year round.

I agree bout its inaccuracy. I was forced to use an impedance device during my years in health care and I could literally guess better most of the time.
