I think they could have cut the bird scene early on in the film though, it gave too much away so there was no surprise element later on, at least not for those that saw it and just knew it would be relevant in a later scene.

But you kind of knew what was going on because of the other scenes anyway, it was the reasons behind what was going on that you didn't know about and the huge reveal towards the end. Anyway, don't want to give anything away so I'll shush now! :P

Oh, and I saw Brave a week or so ago as well. Not one of Pixar's best (Up, Wall-E and Toy Story 3!) and I actually think it could have been longer and given more time to breathe and develop, but it was funny, fast-paced and full of heart and charm.

Watched 13 Assassins yesterday, a blood-thirsty, Samurai film; good film overall, turned a tad comical toward the end when the baddy got his comeuppance...his first words were "Pain!"..."It hurts!" Do tell! Get slashed with a samurai sword and it hurts, who knew

Watched a few movies the last couple of days.

Indie Game: The Movie - absolutely fantastic and beautifully shot documentary following the independent game developers of Braid, Super Meat Boy and Fez. A fantastic insight into the physical and mental processes that these developers have to undertake free from the constraints of full-scale developers. Fantastic.

Pandorum - sci-fi horror film that reminded me a little of Event Horizon. Setup and premise was fairly interesting and claustrophobic and the ending had it's moments, but the large chunk in the middle was mostly un-scary garbage and bad monsters.

The Hunger Games - I was pleasantly surprised by this. Aside from the teen fantasy romance bullshit this was a surprisingly enjoyable and violent film, considering it's 12/PG-13 rating and target demographic. Much better than shitty Twilight and I'm actually intrigued to see where it goes next. A real surprise.

Oh, and Jennifer Lawrence is megahot:

We enjoyed that as well, though we thought it took quite a good percentage of the film to really get going; although, on second viewing, it seemed to get to the action a lot quicker, so maybe it was just us on the day.

Did you see the UK cinema cut version? Apparently we missed about 7-10 seconds or so of film so that they could downgrade it to the 12A for the UK (I think it was a 12A but it was downgraded anyway)

Looper.

Good but not great. Pacing and editing issues, and generally entertaining but forgettable for me.

I watched Lonely are the Brave (1962) this afternoon. Fantastic. A paean to rugged individualism and freedom to roam the world. Kirk Douglas was terrific in it, and George Kennedyas his antithesis was suitably horrible.
