Default Fitday.com tells me that...

I am 56.2 pounds overweight and I fall into the Obese category for my height. That sucks because I would like to be about 65 pounds heavier haha. I hate body mass calculators, there are way too many variables for them to even be considered useful. I am 6'5" and they say 156-210 is a good weight... If you are 6'5" and only 156 pounds you would have a tough time mustering up the strength to fight your way out of a wet paper bag! I cant imagine that even being healthy! So I am curious, what does Fitday tell you guys about your BMI? I find this quite interesting.

156 at 6.5 sounds like a just-before-death-by-gruesome-disease weight to me, cant be healthy no matter how thin bonestructure one might claim to have =)

You're not alone. I once weighed 150 at 5'10" and looked liked the point guard for the Ethiopian national basketball team.

I am small boned and I am supposed to weigh 144 to 154.

Yes, so sick of the whole BMI thing. Sick of my Wii Fit telling me I'm fat. For me to be at my "ideal" *cough* weight I'd actually have to lose lean mass. Fkk that.

I would hate to see what it tells a woman.

In my 5 years in health care, I spent many days taking vitals. I can tell you that of the 100's of women I personally weighed, 95% of the women under 140 pounds were 18. Most mature women (post-college age) weighed 150 to 180.

I got out of the hospital when I was 30 and weighed 136 pounds at 5'10" - I would have been the equipment handler.

Most BMI charts give 5'10" a range between 130 - 170#'s. If you compare that to a bodyfat % chart and figure the high end of both you get 170#'s and 17% bf both would make you border line for "Over weight". That means you could have a maximum muscle mass of 144#'s.

No wonder the government says we have an obesity problem ... when Arnold was at his peak - he was Obese.

Exactly. I'm not sure where and how these standards were adopted.

At my leanest (in the Army) I was 177-180 with abs, and was considered obese and told I needed to lose a few pounds.

As is BMR.

I'm trying to help a 5'11" 150 pound skinny guy add muscle right now, and told him to try 3000 calories for 2 weeks to judge what it does to his weight.

Some other guy keeps interjecting that he should stick to 2600 calories per day because it's his BMR.

agreed. at my BMR i'd end up on a massive cut.

i'm having hard times gaining and i'm eating anywhere from 3500 to sometimes 5000+ calories a day.
