Default I know nothing about cars help.... exaust thingy

alright, as im sure its obvious i know nothing about cars.

This is the car i picked up a few weeks ago. 02' mustang gt "clone".

it has the whole fake scoop thing going, after market crome rims, body kit. also has other queer cosmetic details i actually like, lol, but many will think are ghey.

Sorry for really crappy pics... also they make it look ****tier than it is....

the exaust/muffler/tip/i dont know what the **** im talking about/ is all stock. One of the previous owners put a hole in something to make it sound "cool", but it just sounds like a quiet noise and like my cars broken, lol.

i eventually(when i have the $) want to get rid of that, get something that sounds good, and get a crome tip or whatever the ****....

what all would i need for this? links? how much am i looking at money wise, not looking for the top of the line stuff?

yes im aware this post made me much less manly... but no close family members or anything know **** about cars.

haha. Well the 3.8 actually did have a problem with cracked exhaustmanifolds because they put headers (opposed to a thick cast iron piece) on them and the welds suck. Check if its not coming from under your hood first.

Second: Jack the damn thing up and look at it, I've never heard of someone just drilling a hole in a pipe to sound cool (but you never know) I dont know much about aftermarket exhaust but I'd say your best bet is to keep it at factory noise level, no need to be a douche with a loud v6

3.8L/232 - Exhaust - MUSTANG - FORD - 2002 - SummitRacing.com

just in case.....and this is all bolt on equipment. no welding required just hand tools and elbow grease.

definitely get your problem checked by someone who knows cars first so you don't waste cash on something you don't need or want.

I have a 02 3.8 as well... I have cat back flowmaster 40's on mine. sounds great... not to loud but still gert a good rumble outta it. I also took the silencer off.. made a noticable differecnce. plus the extra 15 horses dont hurt

if you looking to save some dough.. check out flowmasters glass pack mufflers. you get a pretty good sound out of them as well.

ps. I like the mach 1 lip on the bottom... picking mine up soon.

OTK is the man on this stuff. You'll never make a 6 banger sound good IMO. Quiet the thing up and don't worry about what you need to bolt on. Cat-back exhaust systems are as big of a sham as BSN products. The bottle neck is the catalytic converter, so no matter what's behind it, it won't do anything but maybe change the sound. And I just can't get into loud anything unless it's a V8 or a true bad-A tuner.
