Default Any Deadliest Catch fans here???

6th season opened last night....I love this show, even though I don't like Crab legs at all... I still remember saying I would go do this in a heartbeat, if I didn't have anything else going for me.. But less than a few hours into the season, 1 boat was already gone. Granted, it was a smaller cod fishing vessel, but it still damn sank and forced the crew onto a raft. Luckily, they were only 25 miles from Dutch Harbor, the main port in the area and a crabber boat was able to get there and rescue them....

This season will be special too. It's obviously recorded months in advance, so I know what's coming up. One of my favorite captains, Phil Harris of the Cornelia Marie passed away after a stroke during a call to port. I'm not sure how they are going to show it on TV... His 2 kids are usually on his boat as well, although the younger of the brothers switched ships with another guy for a little bit to change things up..

Someday, I'd still like to get on a crabber and just live it out myself. If not for the experience, then for the money....

Wife and I love watching this show. Amazing what those guys go thru just to get fish for king crab! I too don't crab legs but now have an appreciation for those brave souls that go out in that weather to catch them.

Also will be interested to see what happens on the Cornelia Marie as far as who will take over the boat now that Phil has passed away.

Last time Capt' Phil took time off, he had his back-up skip Murray take over. Murray didn't do so well. He kept the ship running, but I don't think he knew where to drop the pots like Phil or some other more experienced ship Captains do.. They guard those secrets very tightly..

I don't think either of his kids are ready to command such a vessel yet. Jake is young punk, and Josh is only on his 3rd year....

Did you see the near-fight between Keith of the Wizard and Jonathan "cheap-shot" Hillstrand? I thought there was going to some punches thrown, but the others stepped in...

I love deadliest catch, I watched the first episode 2 times already. It was great, I really like the switch of Jakes, I think it will be very interesting to watch.

Good start to the season
