Default Possible Challenge Awards

I have the ability to create "awards" that go on your profile. I want to create a ground up lifting awards based on challenges. The idea came to me from this thread:

http://muscleandbrawn.com/forums/cla...html#post40780

I thought about offering an award for the completion of a full week of Reg Park style workouts.

Any other challenges we could offer at MAB they deserve wards?

I really like this idea, but I would like to see it awarded for having run a proper cycle, say something on the order of 12 weeks. That would be appropriate for these types of programs. Most anybody could just slug there way through something, but they wouldn't really get the benefit of what this type of training means, or can do for them.

I love this type of training, and I don't think thats a big secret. I feel that just doing this for one week would really lose the overall depth, and complexity of what this training does for you.

That particular program is fairly advanced, and would require good prepwork.
There are some good beginner, intermediate, and advanced programs. We could have three different levels of award.

Something like:

Golden age training program award.

Beginner
Intermediate
Advanced

The Reg park award could be thought of as the final test. It would take a person a whole year to work there way through all 4 levels if they did 3 months of each. Trust me on this. This would be one a serious hard year of training. You would come out the backend of this experience much stronger and bigger.

I can still push myself over the edge with this type of training, and I've been doing it for more than a few months now.

I like the idea of long term awards.

My main thought was to add simple goals as a fun diversion, such as a 20 rep squat challenge, etc.

I have no problem doing both short and long term awards, and welcome all ideas.

I like that idea. I think there's room to do both. As I said in another post, most people could probably slug there way through a week of this. For an unconditioned person who doesn't do this type of training it might be an eye opener.

In any case. Anybody contemplating this should go read the Casey Butt appreciation thread, in the bodybuilding section. It is stickied there. Go into this armed with some knowledge about what your jumping into.

I think it would be important to set some parameters as to percents of known maxes to have the person working in at least a minimum level of difficulty.

Thanks for the idea. I think that one would require a video

I like challenges. I game for anything. I have on for ya.

Check it.

Texas Push Up
Here's how it works
1 Begin in a standing position

2 Drop to a push-up position and do one push-up

3 Stand back up quickly

4 Drop back down and do two push-ups

5 Stand back up

6 Drop back down and do three push-ups, then stand back up

7 Repeat this pattern until you do 10 reps on the last set of push-ups

Total of 55 push-ups

The Challenge

Goal 1 Just try to finish all the sets, ya wimp. If you do, then congratulations, you're adequate Whoopie

Goal 2 Finish all the sets in under two minutes. Do that and you can brag. A little

Goal 3 Now it gets personal. From this point on, try to beat your previous time. Or, get a few buddies together and see who finishes first

Tips and Guidelines

1 Use a full range of motion on the push-ups. None of that halfway horse****

2 Push-up bars are fine if you want to use them

3 Most people "hit a wall" around the 7th or 8th set. So don't get too cocky when set #6 feels easy
