Default Patrick Matsuda, RIP

The tragic news hit last week; Patrick Matsuda, who I announced as the winner of the Middleweight class at the 2001 USA (the year Quincy Taylor won the Overall), was beaten and stabbed to death outside of his Bakersfiled, CA home on February 7. According to various news sources in Bakersfield, [...]

When you know it's a group vs 1, it's time to let the authorities handle stuff like this. Not his fault, but it definitely opened the door.

Last summer when I heard someone pounded on my sister-in-law's door (when her hubby was out of town), I flew over there and there was a party going on across the street. I marched right in their yard cocked and ready to roll. They let a pit bull out and fortunately he trotted right past me. I confronted the homeowner and asked if he beat on her door. He said yeah, I needed a plunger. I said a few choice words and told him he better not ever cross the street after dark and enter that yard again.

I was running on adrenalin and the next day when I was settled down, I thought about how bad that could have turned out. Not very smart of me at all. The house I went to is a suspected dealer. I'll handle that differently next time.

Matsudaís widow says her husband was angry about the constant partying across the steet in their neighborhood, so he tried to put a stop to it around 2:30 a.m. A confrontation resulted, eventually leading to the father of fourís death.
I feel bad for the kids.

I have to self-censor myself when situations like this come up. I want to do what he did, but sometimes it's just best to put ear plugs in and take a deep breath.
