Default Ever get the feeling you're in for a rough ride.......

My next meet is this Saturday, the 6th.

I recently found out it's going to be an outdoor meet (registration form said nothing about that). Temp is supposed to hit 85, and it's been pretty humid lately.

We will be set up right next to one of the main community center buildings, but we have not been told if we will be allowed in the building to use the restrooms or drinking fountains (believe me, we asked).

"Food will be available" has turned out to be a food truck from Killer Hibachi (great food, but expensive, and not something you want on your stomach on meet day). There is a small chance that this will be our only option for getting water (at $2 per bottle).

And the least of my concerns, meet t-shirts are first come, first served, available starting at the same time as weigh-ins and equipment checks. Not really a big deal, but I like collecting shirts from meets. Every other meet I've been to in the past, this one included, they normally allow you to pre-order your shirt, or just give you one as part of the registration fee. They also did not ask for shirt size, so I'm guessing XXL will be sold out pretty damn quick. Not a big deal, just an annoyance.

All that being said, I feel good about my actual lifts. Squat is WAY up in training, bench is hit or miss, but mostly up. Deadlift might be a bit down, but I'm not worried about that right now.

For me, with all my diet restrictions, I am used to packing all my own food anyway. Looks like you may have to do the same, along with a 6 or 12 pack of water. You may find it's better to pack all your own stuff anyway.

Having an outdoor meet is a new concept to me, being in Canada haha. Here, you simply cannot depend on a nice day and you would need an indoor back up plan. Don't forget to pack your sunscreen?

Wish you all the best with your lifts, especially with all this unknown-ness, as I hope all of this doesn't become a distraction.

I do generally pack my own stuff, just because I'm a cheap bastard. I make like 5 or 6 sandwiches the night before and put them in Ziplock bags. Sometimes it's nice to have the convenience of hauling less stuff though. I figured with it being warm and all, might be good to have less to carry around.

Water, I usually fill up from a drinking fountain and mix in some creatine and BCAAs all day, so having to lug water bottles might be annoying, but not the end of the world. Just need to use a bigger cooler.

I've been training with the vents closed and no fan in my workout room to try and acclimate myself to lifting in warm conditions, so I hope that will help eliminate some of the issues that brings on.

How bad would it suck to get stung by a bee mid-squat though, lol.

Being outdoors how far away will your Car be? Could you pack a cooler and just leave it in your trunk? And just simply walk to your car when needed?

Also being outside, Shade might be limited. I would get one of these...

Add a Trap to one side to block more sun.

Sadly, we have only one vehicle in our family, and the wife will have it all day. She has a baby shower and other girly things to do that day, hehe.

For shade, that seems like a good idea. Not sure who else might be doing the same. The place might end up looking like a refugee camp by day's end.
