Default Which training days do you take a pre-workout and why?

I would normally take 200-250mg of caffeine 2x/week on days I would squat and deadlift since they were the hardest days. I did not want to build a tolerance and even at that dose sleep was usually effected.

In addition to that question feel free to voice your opinions on this question as well. I am considering taking it only on heavy days (Squat/Deadlift Day and Bench Day), or continuing to take it on both squat/deadlift days instead since volume squat/deadlift is a bitch. Which one sounds more intelligent.

None of them. But I can see how, maybe, for powerlifters, it could work... on the right days (PR days, would be my guess).

Just my 2c though, obviously.

I do not currently take a pre-workout, but I can see that it would be beneficial in the right circumstances. From my understanding, the correct amount of carbs and protein, combined with some caffeine, would have a good effect on energy levels throughout the workout. Having this provided at the proper levels in a convenient pre-workout drink would be helpful for me...I just have not looked into which one would give me what I want. So currently i only take BCAA's immediately before and after my workouts.

Pre-workout every day I lift haha. And sometimes cardio days.

I should probably cycle off caffeine one of these days.... :P

I work for a supplement company so it may make me a little bias in this area, but I take a pre-workout before every session.
If you feel you need it, continue to use it. However, if the sleep interruption is causing issues with other workouts, then stop (or lower the dosing).
