Default Best/worst things people say to you when discussing powerlifting

My favorite conversation usually goes something like this...

Guy: Powerlifting huh? How much do you lift?
Me: I squat X, bench Y and deadlift Z
Guy: Cool, I could do that in high school, but I can't lift anymore because of (lengthy and detailed list of why he cannot lift anymore, but if he could, he could beat your total)

Deadlifting is too dangerous.

Squating below parallel is too dangerous for your knees.

I had one guy tell me one time that I was too big and fat to run a fast mile. I told him that he'd have to run from me because if I got my hands on him I'd snap him like a twig. I also told him that he can't out run Motorola.

Of course there is the occasional cross fitter who blathers on about functional strength yada yada. These are usually fellow law officers. I ask them next time a large bar fight or fracas happens, who is everyone happier to see. A skinny ass fit guy, or the grizzly bear with attitude. They usually shut up pretty quick.

Best: What are you on? (hint hint they don't mean supps)
Worst: You are destroying your joints and body. (something like that)

Most humerus thing I ever heard: "You know I used to front squat 1000lb 5-6 years ago, but now I can't due to my knees and bad back." I am not joking at all about this. Dude compliments me on my squat, he is cool, older, but the stories of olden days are too good sometimes.

Heard this gem last Saturday:

"I used to lift heavy like that, but I started getting fat so I switched back to more of a high-rep body part split."

I hear this...

I powerlift too. I squatted 750x3 in college.

A fat crossfitter " I can show you how to deadlift". Just a fat guy " ya I bench 600 in high school". Good times.
