Never heard of them before. Looks like some sort of odd combo of GM's and squats. Not sure why anyone would want to do those.

These don't look very lower back friendly to me. Personally I'd rather see a lifter do squats, good mornings and a few hyperextensions.

I consider this a "step down" exercise. Wouldn't be high on my food chain.

I talked with a guy from Oregon that was obviously supernatty and he was doing it with 595 for reps.. he called them a squat morning and he incorporated a pause at the bottom.. He said he really liked these.

Meh. I've worked hard to groove my squat. I don't see the point in making it more complicated and possibly throwing myself off that groove. Seems like a variation someone thought up to justify avoiding a heavy bar on the back.
