Where I go, the gym is full of bro's who spend more time bullshit'n and staring at themselves, then they do lifting. Training with them is a waste of time.
But if you train in a good environment with a bunch of guys who are dedicated and work hard, your lucky.
But most gyms/fitness centers are not like that.
So, thats why you get guys like me who enjoy training alone, wont let people work-in, and just want to be left alone.

There are only 2 racks in my gym and 3 benches so I let anyone work in. Sometimes there 2 people that would want to work in and that's fine too if im lifting heavier, but one guys have to nerve of being 3 or more and asking to work in.
Once I let to guys 2 guys train in, went and got water, they got 2 more buddies to come in without asking. Told them to gtfo..
Another time a trainer wanted to have a client do sets for squats and the moron not only couldn't teach it correctly, he hadn't shown her anything until he put her under the bar. Took like 5 minutes.. He knew not to ask me again.
Other then that its been good, cuz if the racks are occupied and ive let someone work in they will let you work in. This was doing like 3 different squat variations and I let her work in a couple weeks ago (95lb and under). Today I worked in between and got the warm sets out of the way. So if you're nice others would be nice. But never be too nice cuz people will take advantage.

Er, I don't mind. It's a fairly small public gym, after all, and there's only *one* "half rack" to use for squats (etc.) anyway.
I believe it to be extremely selfish not to allow this, when you have sufficient time.
And for that matter, yes, I do sometimes ask if I can work in with others. It's been fine, every time.
