Is there standard for what weights you lift?
I'm 5' 9 1/2'' and 150 lbs. I understand that the weight you lift will depend on how much you weigh and how long you have been lifting. My past strategy was just to lift as much weight as I could confidently lift with good form. I am now working on some strength imbalances - chest to back strength. That also made me realize that I may need to increase my lower body strength quite a bit.

For the teens I am working with I take the simple approach. For Squats and Deadlift, the first goal is to squat or dead their body weight. 2nd marker for the kids is to squat or dead their Father's BW. Then shoot for 1.5 x their bodyweight. For bench, first goal is body weight and 2nd is 225 because that is what they see the football players at the combines lifting. Most are still working on their own body weight for reps.
