I respect your PoV, and it's an interesting article, but here's another - somewhat different - PoV on much the same thing:

The truth about alcohol, fat loss and muscle growth | Intermittent fasting diet for fat loss, muscle gain and health

Admittedly, it does appeal to me more (surprise!), and I'll be drinking every week regardless , but I do *try* to be as objective about these things as I can.

So I'd appreciate your thoughts re: that other article, if you felt so inclined, whenever you had a spare moment. Anything backed up by solid research certainly trumps all else, as always.

I'll check it out Dray thanks. And yes I figured this would be a hot topic.

Good stuff. But I would point out that not every alcoholic beverage is created equally. Wine is probably your least worst, since it does retain a tiny ammount of the nutritional value found in the fruit or honey (I make my own mead and it's awesome) it's made from. Beer would probably be second least worst (if that's gramatically correct), especially if it's a gruit beer as hops is basically estrogen. Spirits are gonna be your worst, and should only be consumed post-workout to elicit an insulin spike, and act as an analgesic

I would say the key here is everything in moderation.

Drinks like beer have allot of empty calories too. So there's another perspective of how it could throw your aesthetics off some. Macronutrients.

The calories in a beer = anywhere from 250 to 400+

Tou have a beer everyday as well as your bulking diet and don't factor that in, at the very least youv'e consumed an extra, and unwanted, 1750 calories a week at the very least

heavy alcohol use is no good for anyone and anyone who is serious about training and athletic performance should limit there alcohol consumption, I know heavy drinking has not helped me in the past. Good article Lisa.
