In my opinion, a "pump" is a by product of a specific workout or exercise, whereas "growth" is a by product of a larger sustained training/nutrition scheme. Sometimes my arms get pumped, sometimes they don't. Have I grown in the last few months? Yep. Growth is not dependant on pump. Pump is not necessarily indicitave of growth. It sure is cool though.

The pump is not an indicator of growth, growth comes from other things.
But it can sometimes enhance the growth and play a role when the other things are present.
It also does matter sometimes how is the pump achieved*, anyone can have a great pump doing 20-30 push-ups for example, but that does not mean necessary there will occur growth.
*Like MaB said "I believe that the pump can mean growth but it has to be couple with a relatively heavy weight"

And sometimes the more growth you have, better pumps you get, so growth sometimes can be an indicator of better pump, or in other words, growth can sometimes determine the pump you gonna have.

Pump does not mean necessary growth, but it is a good sign, if you know what I mean.

The fascia is a "bag" around the muscle group. The muscle can only get as big as the fascia allows.

Training for a "pump" fills the muscles with blood and stretches the fascia (like blowing air into a ballon). Stretching and massage will also keep the fascia supple.

One thing i have noticed is that for my best bodyparts, legs in general, it doesn't matter what i do, i always get a pump, going for a new one rep max you bet i have a pump, walking to the fridge yup theres another pump. And my legs typically grow like weeds, right now they are about 28in i believe, maybe a bit smaller though. but if you look at something like my chest, granted i may get stronger and see some growth, it rarely gets pumped, and the amount of growth i have seen in my chest is dismal compared to my legs. Maybe its the whole mind muscle connection thing.

I'm like that with biceps...but when I needed to bring up my "unresponsive" triceps, pumping them up did the trick...

I've done many shoulder WOs (presses and flyes mostly) that consist of at least 200 reps...

For example

DB press
15x30
20x30
25x20
35x15
45x10
55x8
65x4-6
75x4

Lateral flyes
10x20
15x20
20x20
25x20
20x20
15x20
10x20

etc...
