Default Why you should shop around...

Not lifting related but to some degree it could be, especially if you're after a book etc.

I wanted to buy a book/booklet,. specialised, from the USA, wasn't availbale via any UK link or source, so USA it had to be, if I wanted it.

The first place I found was $25 (rounded up a little) but it had a $6+ postage for USA areas outwith its area and a further $12+ for UK which meant around $42 in total for me

I then decided to search the writer's site, to find that it was $25 as the other site was, understandably but no extra for postage...which I thought was not only odd but far to good to be true. So, I ordered and waited on the post. The booklet arrived today with $12 postage on the envelope and no charges for me, so the writer must either be making a slight loss or no loss, since it's only a small lightweight booklet anyway which wouldn't cost that to photocopy and send etc.

So, today, I'm extremely happy that I made the decision to search further and find the original writer's site.

You know Babs, this is something I have run into but never thought about mentioning. Some of these obscure lifting books can cost a fortune on Amazon, etc., but are still available on the author's site for far less.

It can go the other way too. I recently purchased a new Prowler and I found a better deal for it on Amazon than on the manufacturer's website. It does pay to shop around.

The strange thing is, I wouldn't have minded quite as much if the postage hadn't totalled almost the same as the booklet $25 booklet, $18+ for postage; in a way, maybe it's good that it did because I may not have searched around otherwise.

Some of the old lifting books are also available for free which always astounds me, free in one place via PDF download (sandow site) and being sold in another place for quite a sum at times.

Yep. EliteFTS and Juggernaught, I'm sure others as well, have sales at times where it pays to buy from them. Knives are usually cheaper on Amazon. Versagripps were the same price when I bought them, but they weren't available on Amazon prime, so I got faster and cheaper shipping from VGs site.
