Default Quitting

I am quitting chew right now. I started chewing about a year and a half ago to stop smoking but now i'm ready to get off of it all together. Has anyone here quit smoking or chewing and how did it affect your workouts for the first week?

I quit chewing a few years back. Didn't really impact my workouts at all. Generally speaking i was an edgey mfer for a week or so.

I quit smoking. Didn't really impact workouts but I did gain a lot of weight in 3-4 months.

Same story here northern. I quit smoking like 9+ years ago...Only problem was that I started chewing. I'm now 3 months off of chew (the PR I'm most proud of!!)

My w/o's weren't really affected by quiting. If anything, I found I had more energy. Everyone is different and your body could react to the withdrawal differently than mine. I"M SO HAPPY I"M DONE WITH IT!! and I feel so much better/healthier overall.

As a suggestion, I did use nicotine gum every so often for those difficult times. I used Thrive and Nicorette (but much preferred Thrive) mixed with one Exel or Trident. The key is NOT TO CHEW THE GUM. You chew it a bit in the beginning and then keep it in the side of your mouth. The juice drips down your throat and lasts a long time. A couple of chews every so often and the flavor and nicotine keep going.

Hope this helps man. If you need anything else, let me know.

You can do it!!

Good luck and all the best with it man.

I still have times when I crave it (especially when I'm around others chewing...usually when we get together...dinner and a few drinks you know). I know that this craving is totally mental/psychological and not physical. I still make sure I have my gum with me.

All the power to you buddy!!

I quit the real thing half way through last year and started using an e-cig, the only thing that I've been able to stick to. I hope to be able to stop using that eventually too. The one thing I still notice since quitting is how I don't get out of breath as easily when I exert myself in and out of the gym.
Best of luck mate !.

NICE!!! Congrats northern.

Just remember - it's all PR's from here on!!!

The physical dependency is over in a week, or two max. Then it's only our minds playing tricks on us.

Keep it up - Good Luck!
