Default God Made A Farmer by Dodge

Best Superbowl commercial I've seen in years.

We literally didn't want the commercial to end. To say we were riveted is an understatement.

Me too, I worked on farms and ranches for many, many years (most of my life). I can appreciate the value of long days and hard work. And it's not just the farmer, but it's the farmer's wife and kids as well. When the wife isn't doing household chores (sorry, we're talking traditional roles with this group), they are out helping to feed and fix stuff. And the kids, when not in school, were helping with it all too. Hell, even the family's dogs have chores. I value this lifestyle with all my soul.

That's not to say that I don't value other lifestyles as well. A successful society needs all types of professions. One of my sons is very science oriented and he didn't appreciate the commercial as much as I did. He will grow up to do great things, I'm sure. My other son likes sports and the hard work that comes with that. He wears cowboy boots and understood the message of the commercial even though we do not currently live that lifestyle any longer. They are completely different types of kids, I love and value them both, but I must admit a certain pride that I passed down a little bit of my heritage to at least one of them

Everything valuable in life I learned was from the farming side of my family. I know that pride well. My grandmother worked her yard until she was in her mid-80s. They kept trying to get her to slow down, but that wasn't in her blood. She spent so many years working hard from sun up to sun down, all while keeping an amazing attitude about life.

I miss people with that attitude most of all. Being surrounded by farmers where I live, they are friendlier, down to earth and will almost always talk to you. I've been around ranchers in SD, Montana and Idaho and it's pretty much the same thing.

I guess it's a part of Americana that is dying, but in my opinion, it was a huge part of our soul. Like you said, not that other occupations aren't valuable, but more that the farm/ranch-centric regions had values I really appreciate.

Exactly, no matter what your [valued] role is in society, attack with the work ethic of a farmer.

I really enjoyed the commercial. About teared up a few times, big old softy that I am. My father, my father's father, his father's father, and his before him were farmers. Tough old bastards who worked land most folks would have given up for useless. But they were the kindest and most loving men you were ever likely to meet. They were dirt poor, but anyone who stopped in for a meal got one. It's sad to see this way of life fading to the massive corporate farms, but even worse is people who don't know where their food comes from, and can't appreciate the back breaking work that goes into getting them that donut they are yelling at the kid behind the counter over.

Best commercial by far. I also teared up a bit with the Clydesdale commercial.
