49ers Chris Culliver - "No Gays"

Niners CB says openly gay players would not be welcomed on the team - Yahoo! Sports

Quote:

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver has made inflammatory comments regarding homosexuality in football just a few days before Super Bowl XLVII.

Shock jock Artie Lange revealed he had interviewed Culliver at media day Tuesday and aired a segment on his show that night, where the player insisted that any gay players would not be welcome on the team.

"I don't do the gay guys man," said Culliver, whose Niners play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. "I don't do that. No, we don't got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do.

"Can't be with that sweet stuff. Nah…can't be…in the locker room man. Nah."
Ironic that this player plays in San Francisco. I don't think he'll be playing for SF for long.

It's a masculine sport that not just encourages, but thrives on an alpha male attitude and people are shocked that he made a statement like this?
They need to get over it, IMO.

In this PC world, not going to hear the end of this for awhile!

BendtheBar 01-31-2013 12:11 AM

I don't think I'm shocked by the statement as much by the timing, and by the lack of consideration for the ramifications living in a city that is know for having a large gay community.

Hunterace 01-31-2013 12:14 AM

I don't get surprised when pro athletes(or anyone for that matter) say stupid crap! But like you said, nice timing dumbass!

Waiting for the story of him cruising for sex in the Castro to break in 5, 4, 3, 2,...

Also, did anyone read his apology?

Quote:

"The derogatory comments I made yesterday were a reflection of thoughts in my head, but they are not how I feel," Culliver said in a statement released by the team. "It has taken me seeing them in print to realize that they are hurtful and ugly. Those discriminating feelings are truly not in my heart. Further, I apologize to those who I have hurt and offended, and I pledge to learn and grow from this experience."
Um, What?

Guess not everyone is drinking the PC kool-aid, good for him. Have no issue's with gays but just like everyone else he's entitled to an opinion. Oversensitive mamby pamby society spanking sure to follow for him.

Hunterace 01-31-2013 09:38 AM

Lol, MC! Um what...is right :)! I said how I felt but I don't really feel like it because it's not accepted or PC, lol! The backtracking or appoligizing statements are always too funny!
"what I really meant to say, was the complete opposite of what actually came out of my mouth"! Hahahaaaaa
Keep shoving your foot deeper into your mouth!

Hard to believe that most of these guys are highly educated.
No matter where they stand on the issues of homosexuality, they could act and speak a whole lot classier.

Bill 01-31-2013 10:53 AM

this just displays a failure of our education system.

I don't care if he likes gays or not. the fact that he was pushed through college talking the way he does scares me.
