These hoaxes never die. This came up in the general fitness & health section a month or 2 ago: http://muscleandbrawn.com/forums/gen...1-vacines.html
Just look at the facts, and you can see that the article is just wrong.
--Before vaccines, polio paralyzed tens of thousands of people every year, and after the polio vaccines, polio has been practically eradicated.
--In the 1960's, rubella caused 15,000 American children to be deaf, blind, or mentally impaired, but after rubella vaccines, there have only been a few dozen U.S. cases of rubella over the last decade.
--In the late 1950's and early 1960's, 3 million cases of measles and 500 deaths from measles were reported every year, but after measles vaccines, there are around 50 cases per year and almost no deaths.
--1940s, there was an average of 175,000 U.S. cases of pertussis (whooping cough) per year, resulting in the deaths of 8,000 children annually. Now, after the pertussis vaccine, there are only about 10,000 cases per year. B/c of this tin-foil hat-wearing "no vaccines" movement, whooping cough is making a comeback and there are small outbreaks among school children every year in the US and Canada (the majority of those kids effected are unvaccinated).
If vaccines didn’t work, the rate of disease would not have dropped so sharply after vaccines were introduced. If the vaccines actually caused the disease they are supposed to prevent, the number of those infected would have skyrocketed after the vaccines were introduced. Those things didn’t happen. What does that tell you?
Yes, there is a hoax out there and its articles like the one you posted that are keeping it alive. It’s the “vaccines don’t work and/or vaccines cause disease and there is a conspiracy to keep keep it a secret” hoax. Far too many educated people are falling for it these days.

Agree with J.
It saddens me that for every great human achievement, there are now the obligatory conspiracy-mongers ready to knock it down. In the past, their audience would have been limited, but the internet means they can now spread their ideas globally. Very much like a commonsense-destroying virus.
Vaccines have meant that literally millions of people haven't had to face the heartbreak of their kids having diseases like polio or smallpox or diptheria. Unfortunately, there are still plenty of places in the world where one can witness what life is like without adequate vaccination, and it's sickeningly grim.
When you think about the tens of thousands of people who have given over their professional careers to developing vaccines, and the thousands more who devote lives to vaccinating kids in godforsaken corners of the world...well, to try to score political points (like sowing mistrust of the government) off it seems a bit low.
No criticism of Mike intended, I'll reserve that for the authors of this horrible nonsense.
