Legal or illegal. Most people learn by the first grade, if you hit somebody they are probably going to hit you back.

Leaving aside the legalities for a moment, it's pretty disturbing to me that all those people saw this escalating and figured the best way they could help was to pull out their phones and record it. And what was the guy in the orange suit doing? Is he a crossing guard on the way home, or is he on the bus as someone supposed to help the driver? Either way, he isn't any help at all, except to keep the other people off the driver.

Finally someone calls 911, but after the incident is over.

We're living in a society here. You see something wrong, you should actually try to help defuse the situation.

As for the driver, I'm sure he handled it wrong and will get punished almost certainly, but I don't really blame him. Sometimes you just break and do something stupid. He did.

I also think any judge seeing that video takes that into consideration.

So because first graders behave a certain way it's ok for adults to? We are now justifying adult behavior based on how children act? Really?
Really? That's your reasoning?
I'm throwing my hands up here. Just do some research on the law, your rights to defend yourself, and how to protect yourself legally in a self defense situation. Because it is clear you have no clue what you are talking about.

How about uninformed. The kinder, gentler way.

You have no idea the training and certifications I have involved with self defense. Part of responsible self defense is knowing your legal obligations and protecting yourself so that you are not put in a situation where you are treated like a criminal in a situation.
Once again, you aren't protecting your family if you are in jail or finacially spent due to having defend yourself in court.
This is the dumbest post I have seen in this thread.

No disrepect Josh, if i ever caught a home intruder or someone who risked my families safety id make sure he would have 0 chance of harming them. Id take those other consequences over risking my familys lives to try and follow the law. In hindsight, the self defense laws in Canada are really fair, working the bar i have broken noses, knocked people out for merely shoving me. each time i was asked if i wanted to press charges, a friend of mine even killed a guy trying to restrain him and was cleared of wrong doing.( 3 of them tried to restrain the guy and they were all big dudes but he was super high on something, in the scuffle he was knocked and smacked his head on concrete) My friend has struggled with it emotionally and feels guilty but he was not at fault.
