Default Machinist work

I am currently considering an apprenticeship in machining, and was wondering if any MAB members had some experience in this field? I remember BtB specifically mentioning something about doing machinist work years ago.

I do have an interest in the field - mainly I just want to hear from others about trades in general, how they liked the work, etc.
