Default Blue Hairs

I have noticed tons of seinor men in my gym, and all of them have the same technique. Whether they use the machine or free weights (which is rare).
They push till lock out, then do like 30 mini repititions. Not even enough to call half reps.
Is this a technique for older people? Or is this the way they were trained in high school back in the 40's?
I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

I've seen younger guys doing it or at least something similar. I always thought of it as one of those bs mythical techniques that don't do much. They usually do it on the bench press. 2 little pumps at the bottom (few inches off chest and back) followed by a full rep.

Yeah, I didn't want to immediately draw the conclusion that they are wasting their time. (Although I have seen guys in the gym with terrible, terrible form and judged them accordingly.) I noticed that just about every older gentleman that I saw was doing this. Only moving the weight a few inches at the top of the concentric motion. I was always taught full rom. Maybe these guys know something I don't.

i know this doesn't have much to do with this thread but i have noticed allot of younger chaps going to the gym and all there routines just consed of is benchpress curls and abs after a month of lifting they don't see any gains and start juicing.
