My mother turns 87 tomorrow. I'm giving her an "Anderson Powerlifting" T-shirt. Seems cheap and silly, but she has all she needs and she likes the PL T's I give her. The old folks she plays cards with ask her about it and she can brag about my lifts. LOL

Guess my point is, you don't have to spend a bunch of $$ to put a smile on someones face. It's the smile that counts.

yeah! And, it's functional.

I like the simple things, a book about something I'm in to, a small bar of milk free choc, etc. People seem to think, females should automatically get jewellery which irks me when I don't actually want the stuff...that's usually outsiders though but hubby knows me better.

I agree. The best gift I ever got from my husband was a poem he wrote. He put his heart into it and it meant the world to me.

I won't buy my wife jewelry either. I've bought her many power tools though.LOL She's a woodworker. I remember buying her a planer once and told the clerk it was for my wife. He said "yeah right". LOL

Heeheehee, yeah, hubby buys me things like barbells, weight plates, or whatever I'm after at the time and lets me select things like the lawnmower since I'm the one that will be using it...you do get some weird stares, that's for sure
