The Million Big Gulp March - NYC - 07.09.12

Tomorrow, let's tell Mayor Bloomberg what we think about his soda ban.

Same. I dont even drink the mega sizes...lol But to have a mayor implementing these regulations is ridiculous.

I'm not a soda drinker, but if I lived in NY I would pull out the big gulps. Wish I could be there.

Don't tread on me.

What's next on the banned food/drink list? We must stop this.

This is an original post by me on Facebook:

"First, Bloomberg came for the trans-fats, and I didn't speak out because everyone knew that stuff is bad for you. Then Bloomberg came for the salt, and I didn't speak out because I only used salt sparingly. Then Bloomberg came for the soda, and I didn't speak out because I rarely drank it. Then Bloomberg came for everything yummy and tasty, and it was too late."

New York Soda Ban Approved: Board Of Health OKs Limiting Sale Of Large-Sized, Sugary Drinks

Say goodbye to venti Frappuccinos, gallon movie theater slurpees and big sodas.

The city's Board of Health approved Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s ban on large sugar-sweetened drinks at its monthly meeting Thursday morning. Nine members voted for it, and one abstained.

Under the plan, all restaurants, fast-food joints, delis, movie theaters, sports stadiums and even food carts will be barred from selling sugar-sweetened drinks in cups larger than 16 ounces.

I wonder if there will be ways to get around it using varying definition of the word cups...

I would imagine someone's already all over that idea. It's amazing really, you can't buy them from some places but I'd imagine you can still buy 2 litre (and larger) bottles of the stuff from shops; how does that even work?
