Think of how you do barbell rows. Put your elbows in that position. Where are they?

Carl,

Check out this video about 2:35 in. Smitty talks about the elbow adjustment that will put your arms in the right place on the way down.

yeh 45 degrees from the body... i guess that makes sense really... I have only been benching with an arched back and stuff recently as i always bached flat backed etc etc and never really bothered with bench and didnt do it often enough to nail down the form... I intend to make big progress in bench in the upcoming weeks and i want to get it nailed down.

I forgot to mention "bending the bar". Smitty talks about this at the point you referenced. It's actually where I get my forum name from.

Try the back contraction thing I mentioned with arms flared and with arms 45 degrees. You should be able to feel a huge difference.

great video Ken, the thing about elbow correction really makes it clear. I have also been using the wrong bar path as well I think

2pps x 6 next session with the proper form i think.

Just done it Steve and there is a massive difference. Also with bending the bar Ill obviously be engaging the lats much more...

I think there could be big things ahead for me in the bench, I always wondered why I never progressed much, now I realise form was a bit crap

No need to worry about that. Watching other's form critiques helps noobs like me a lot.

Clean and Press - Suggestions on how to do it better. I'm improving, but would like to hear from people who actually know how to do it on what I need to change.

First vid is equal to my best, but went up a lot better than the other did. Second is only 5 pounds heavier, but not going anywhere.

You need to learn to pull yourself under the bar and recieve it high on your chest at your clavicles/lower neck line on your anterior deltoids.

I would suggest starting from square #1 with an empty bar, broomstick or pvc pipe (1" x 7') and learning the form properly.

These should help.
