4/6: First time drinking since the prep phase and starting CBL; I had one heavy beer (~20g carbs), but managed to stay under the 30g mark on the ULC day; had about 68g fat and 150g protein.

No idea how much I drank lol - stuck with vodka and calorie free mixer the entire night. A pretty wicked headache this morning and my stomach has been topsy-turvey, but incredible lift session today.

4/8: After last night's carb-fest post Bench + accessory (~3750 cals, 420g carbs), I woke up at 169.8lbs, looking lean as hell.

CBL has been incredible thus far - I really appear to be recompping; although it's only been a few weeks, progress pics will be taken at regular intervals.

To those curious, I am "bulking", but with the goal of minimal fat gain/slight fat loss. I think the idea of calorie/carb cycling is a great way to accomplish this goal. Looks like I should try upping carbs to 450+g on lifting days and see what happens.

To be fair, I think my insanely high volume routine (300+ working reps each day) allows me to increase carb content compared to the average CBL'er. But hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

How are you feeling the day after a ulc day where you backloaded day before that.

Good question - I honestly haven't given it much thought. I lift today, then have a ulc day tomorrow - can I get back to you on that question?

The ulc days have definitely been easier post prep-phase compared to when I tried to run CBL without the prep phase.

Yesterday was a ULC day - the mornings always seem to be easiest - I love my pre-lunch "fasting" of coffee +VCO. Still trying to figure out how to balance calories on the ULC days. For example, yesterday was ~2450 cals with ~180g of protein and fat (I weigh ~171lbs btw)

If I stay moving, ULC days are fine, but if I sit down to study, there are times I feel hungry - I think I'm genetically predisposed to process carbs more efficiently than fats lol, however the prep phase definitely helped with the latter.

It's strange but I actually wake up heavier after a ULC day, despite eating ~1000 less cals. Go figure.

Interesting. I also keep my sodium fairly high on rest days so some of it may be water retention too. I guess there's a lag between carb intake and water retention?

4/10: Woke up post ULC day at 173.2lbs (weight is higher after ULC day for some reason)

Lifted Overhead + accessory; lots of volume
went to sushi with the lady friend tonight so I don't have an exact cal/carb/fat/protein stat
but I'd ball park it (we split 4 8-piece rolls exactly in half so I'm estimating about 800 cals total).

~3950 cals; 430g carbs; 160g fat; 240g protein

Heavy deads tomrrow; interested to see how I look tomorrow AM. Will definitely be dialing back cals closer to ~3500 for tomorrow's CBL day.

4/12: Back down to 169.6lbs after Deadlift + high carb day
No weight chance after the first backload post-prep phase. I do appear to be recompping and still getting stronger which is nice but my goal right now is to add mass.

I'm planning to up the cals slightly on ULC days (~190g protein and 190g fat, <30g carbs) -> this is an increase of about 10-20g of each

On CBL days, I'm planning to aim for a MINIMUM of 3750 cals and at least 400+g carbs.

My routine is extremely high volume and I really need to feed the machine. Hell I might have a couple 4000 cal CBL days to see what happends.

4/12 and 4/13 were both rest days and ULC days. Friday was easy and last night I went out to a Greek resturant - got some great sea bass and veggies dressed with olive oil. Went out drinking with the buddies and lady friends last night. Upset stomach this morning but I woke up feeling quite lean - stuck to diet soda and vodka.

Today is gonna be especially high carb - at least 450g and probably close to 4k cals. Gotta start moving the scale.
