Both are awesome, but my favorite is the deadlift. There's something primal about it.
I use a conventional stance when I pull, along with a narrow foot position, and a mixed grip.
When I squat, it's somewhat wider than shoulder width, but not like most of the multi-ply dudes who go ridiculously wide. The bar is low on my back and I go well below parallel, but not ATG.
Both the squat and deadlift are performed away from the mirror.
