I do not really know all that much about diet. I have been basically on a steady bulk for my entire lifting career. I try to eat a lot, but not stuff myself. And I eat clean as much as I can. If I step on the scale and I am losing weight, I try to eat more. If I am losing weight, I try to eat a little less before bed.
What kind of diet are you on now? If you are on a serious bulk diet, I would keep with it and just eat a little less at each meal. And keep a check on your weight. I think pictures, mirrors, and weights are a better judge of whether you are gaining muscle than a scale.
