I actually drink coffee about 30 minutes before my workout. I simply don't train as well without it.
No really you aren't. If you are referring to your adrenal glands. If you drink a lot of coffee for a few hours before working out, you will exhaust your adrenalin supply before you reach the gym. As I stated, right before is okay because you will spark the glands at the right time and utilize it.
