What the hell are they talking about different kinds of whey? I thought whey was whey.. Whey isolate is the purest form, with very little fat and lactose. It as about 90% pure protein by weight.

Whey concentrate is about 75% pure protein. It's cheaper because the quality is lower.

A whey blend is a mixture of these two, and provides good quality at a fairly reasonable price.

Whey is fast absorbing, and is best used when you need quick protein like first thing in the morning, or during - or after a workout.

Proteins like casein are slow absorbing, and are good in between meals to "hold you over".
