Geezer - I come from a similar background, and I agree in part with your point.
but I knew some kids who had alcoholic parents & some junkie parents.
In our primary schools (5 -12year olds), we have have a basic free lunch
carton of milk & a sandwich. this was a key meal for these kids, for a lot of them this might be the only proper meal that day.
Why take from these kids

it is ultimately the parents fault, but there has to be something for these kids - IMO

anyway this is kinda going off the point, could be whole topic by itself.
